Bluesfreunde Schüttorf sehr beeindruckt – Victor Wainwright & The Train im Heimathaus

Schüttorfs Bluesfreunde haben schon so manche Konzerte besucht, die ihnen bis heute in guter, bester und nachhaltiger Erinnerung geblieben sind. Einige dieser Erinnerungen kommen immer wieder ins Gespräch. Sie wirft also so schnell nichts um. Am Donnerstag, dem 17. Oktober 2019, machten sich nun Wolfgang, Winfried, Manfred, Marc, Gerd und Berni auf den Weg zum Heimathaus nach Twist, dem heimlichen Bluesmekka im Moor, wie der Veranstaltungsort auch gerne liebevoll bezeichnet wird.
Daniel Köstring, Cheforganisator der Blueskonzerte, hatte es geschafft, mit Victor Wainwright & The Train eine Bluesformation aus den Staaten zu verpflichten, die zum ersten Mal in Europa auf Tournee ist. Die Empfehlung dazu kam von Winfried Heerbaart, dem Daniel Köstring dafür ausdrücklich dankte.
Der stimmgewaltige Victor Wainwright, dem man eine äußerst dominante Bühnenpräsenz bescheinigen muss, bediente mit Vehemenz das Piano B3 und das electric Piano. The Train das sind: Billy Dean (drums, percussion, vocals), Terrence Grayson (Bass, vocals) und Pat Harrington (guitar, vocals). Sehr markant waren die Tempowechsel und die Stilwechsel, mal rockig, mal jazzig und dann natürlich sehr bluesig, auch einfühlsam, langsam und ruhig. Aber manchmal eben wie ein Tornado.
Bei Wikipedia findet man folgende zutreffende Bemerkung:
„Wainwrights Musikstil wurde 2013 vom amerikanischen Blues Scene-Magazin als "Honky-Tonk und Boogie mit einer Portion rollendem Donner" beschrieben. Wainwrights Spiel ist einfach wunderschöner Wahnsinn.“
Das haben die Bluesfreunde aus Schüttorf genau so empfunden. Wenn sie nicht schon vergeben wären, hätten die Namen „Steamhammer“ oder „Rolling Thunder“ für diese Combo auch gut gepasst. Alle Achtung!!! Die Erinnerung wird lange nachhalten.
